Transition vs HumanGO (Humango) in 2026: Which AI Triathlon Coach Fits You?

Both build and automatically adjust multisport plans with an AI coach you can chat with. The differences are what each chat can change, what triathletes pay, and what sits around the plan: nutrition, trainer control and technique analysis.

Short answer: HumanGO (formerly written Humango) and Transition both build multisport plans that adjust as you train, and both have an AI coach you can chat with. Choose HumanGO if you want automatic replanning, a race-day pacing plan and community features, and you are happy on its Premium tier. Choose Transition if you want a coach that can rewrite workouts in the chat, plus nutrition targets, in-app smart-trainer control and video technique analysis, at a lower price for triathlon.

Disclosure: I build Transition. Every HumanGO detail below was checked against HumanGO's own website, FAQ, setup guide and App Store listing on October 22, 2026. If something has changed, email [email protected] and I'll correct it.

What the AI coach can change

Both apps put a chat coach at the center, so the useful question is what each one can do.

HumanGO's coach, Hugo, can answer questions about your metrics, nutrition and goals, add days off, log an illness or injury, update thresholds and schedule a test workout. HumanGO's own setup guide also lists what Hugo cannot do yet, including creating a workout, scheduling one, or modifying or deleting a workout on your calendar.

Transition's coach can do those things. Ask it to move Saturday's long ride to Sunday, swap a run for a swim while your calf recovers, or rebuild the week around a work trip, and it changes the workouts in the same conversation.

Hugo adds days off but can't edit workouts. Answers training questions: Transition yes, HumanGO's Hugo yes. Adds days off: Transition yes, Hugo yes. Creates, moves or deletes workouts: Transition yes, Hugo no, per HumanGO's setup guide.

How the plans adapt

HumanGO replans automatically: if you miss a session, Hugo readjusts the plan, using your availability, workouts, heart rate, sleep and fatigue. You can turn automatic replanning off.

Transition watches for missed key sessions and proposes an adjusted plan that you accept with one tap, so nothing changes without you seeing it. Any change you ask the coach for applies immediately. The next training block is built from your recent load, check-ins and notes.

What triathletes pay

HumanGO has two tiers. Essential ($16.99 a month or $155.99 a year) allows one single-sport goal at a time. Multisport goals, custom distances and the Race Planner are in Premium at $28.99 a month or $264.99 a year. Training for a triathlon on HumanGO therefore means Premium, based on how HumanGO describes the tiers.

Transition has one plan: $19 a month or $139 a year in the US, with everything included and a 30-day free trial. For a triathlete on an annual plan, that is $125.99 a year less.

Devices, indoor training and technique

HumanGO's guide shows structured workouts on Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift and Apple Watch, and it lists Suunto and Polar as sync partners. Transition sends structured workouts to Garmin, Wahoo, COROS, Suunto, Zwift and ROUVY, runs them on Apple Watch through its own watch app, and controls Bluetooth smart trainers in ERG mode directly from the phone.

Transition also analyzes video of your swim stroke, bike position and run form, and gives daily calorie and macro targets with fueling guidance around workouts. We found neither in HumanGO, though Hugo will answer nutrition and hydration questions.

Where HumanGO is strong

HumanGO's Race Planner turns your data into a predicted finish time and a race-day pacing plan. Its community features (teams, clubs and groups) are more developed than Transition's, and Challenge Family partnered with HumanGO in 2026 to offer its athletes a trial. If you want replanning that happens in the background without any prompts, HumanGO's automatic mode does that.

Choose HumanGO if

  • You want the plan to replan itself in the background after every missed session.
  • A race-day pacing plan built from your data matters to you.
  • You train with a club or group that already uses HumanGO.
  • You only need one single-sport goal, where the Essential tier is cheaper.

Choose Transition if

  • You want a chat coach that can create, move and remove workouts, not just add days off.
  • You train for triathlon and want the lower price ($19 a month or $139 a year).
  • You want nutrition targets, smart-trainer control and video technique feedback in the same app.
  • You use COROS, Suunto, ROUVY or Apple Watch and want workouts sent there.

Transition's mission is to build a world-class triathlon coach, and I'll keep improving it until it is. I'm constantly evaluating newer models, techniques and architectures, and I build the app to be fast, responsive and simple to use, so managing your training takes as little of your time and effort as possible. — Alex Wormuth, founder
